While European and Asian countries are currently witnessing the Odyssey of Pioneers tour, the American public will get to see what Tesla calls the Electric Summer Roadster Tour. The event will kick off in Omaha, Nebraska and will then move east, west, north and south to encompass as many of the country's regions as possible.
"Driving a Roadster from Los Angeles to Detroit proved to us that there is pent-up demand for the Roadster all over the country," Ricardo Reyes, VP of Communications for Tesla said in a statement.
"With this tour we hope to show that electric cars are here today, and better than traditional cars in so many ways."
The locations where Tesla can be seen in action this summer include Nantucket, Indianapolis, Waterloo and Naperville. Most of the events will take place in existing Tesla stores, when those interested in testing the Roadster model can book a drive.
Tesla's tour announcement comes only days after the electric vehicle manufacturer announced the surprising partnership with Toyota and the revival of the former (New United Motor Manufacturing Inc.) NUMMI plant in Fremont, California.
If there was ever a better publicity stunt to pull by Tesla than a tour, then that's taking over NUMMI. Aside for securing an existing facility for the production of the Roadster and the future Model S, Tesla has also won the hearts and minds of the Californians.
