Tesla Odyssey of Pioneers Heads for Asia

After clocking over 3,000 miles on European roads, electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla and its partner, TAG Heuer, are taking the Roadster engaged in the Odyssey of Pioneers to Asia. The car will arrive in India for the first time and will spend two weeks here.

The car will arrive in South Asia on May 17 and will be displayed at the Ambience Mall in Gurgaon, in suburban Delhi. It will later take to Jaipur, where it will be hosted by His Royal Highness Sawai Bhawani Singh Bahadur, the last maharaja of Jaipur.

"It will be a huge honor to meet His Royal Highness,” Tesla technician Luke McClure said in a statement “In more ways than one, Tesla is pushing the boundaries and blazing a new path for EVs. India is going to be an adventure every day -- for me and thousands of people following me online."

The Roadster taking part on the tour features an interior design signed by Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, created with TAG Heuer design elements. These elements include a specially designed center console, purpose built to host a TAG Heuer concept watch.

The Tesla incorporates a TAG Heuer Meridiist mobile phone and a one-fifth second Heuer Limited Edition Stopwatch. On the outside, the Roadster comes in Foucault Field Gray and features drawings inspired by the new TAG Heuer concept watch.

The tour started on Friday, March 21st, with Leonardo DiCaprio, one of the first Roadster owners and official TAG Heuer Ambassador, sending the car on its way together with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Christophe Babin.
