Tesla Roadster Debuts at the Scottish Motorfair

It will be an exciting weekend for American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, who will be displaying the electric Roadster at two events at the same time, one in Spain and one in Scotland.

Earlier today, Tesla announced the public debut of the Roadster at the 2010 Madrid Motor Show. Now, its presence at the Scottish Motorfair, where the car will be displayed alongside Formula 1 cars and other supercars. The event opens its doors on May 22 in Fife and marks the first time an electric vehicle is allowed to race in official competitions, after last month the UK Motor Sport Association allowed such entries.

"We hear every day from people who want to start accumulating zero-emission miles – but they don’t want to sacrifice performance and fun,” said Tesla UK sales managerGian Avignone. "The Roadster is truly the only car that meets their needs, and they can start driving it today."

Two weeks ago, Tesla delivered the first Roadster to Scotland, to a customer near Edinburgh. According to the carmaker, the region is somewhat of a home country for the Roadster, as it can be used in conjunction with hydroelectric and wind generated power for a truly zero-emission motoring.

In Scotland, companies which purchase an EV can deduct the price of the car from their taxable profits. The Roadster is the only sports car that has ever qualified for a such a tax incentive throughout the UK.
