Tesla Makes First Appearance in Madrid

The 2010 Madrid Motor Show which opens on May 20 will be host, for the first time, of Tesla Motors - manufacturer of the electric Roadster and, soon, of the Model S. The American manufacturer will have two vehicles on display, one inside the la Feria de Madrid, and one outside, to be used by visitors as a test drive vehicle.

"More and more people want to start accumulating zero-emission miles today, and the Roadster lets them do just that in one of the fastest and most stylish cars in the world,” said Cristiano Carlutti, Tesla Vice President of European Sales and Operations. "Why wait when you can be part of the green revolution today?"

As it rarely happens, the public debut of Tesla in Madrid comes after the first Roadster has been delivered in Spain. The first Spanish Roadster is owned by Otto Poldermans, the founder of Solar Hydro Solutions, a manufacturer and supplier of solar equipment.

Currently, the Roadster is engaged in a promotional world wide tour called Odyssey of Pioneers. The tour started on Friday, March 21st, with Leonardo DiCaprio, one of the first Roadster owners and official TAG Heuer Ambassador, sending the car on its way together with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Christophe Babin.

The car used for the tour is a special edition model, built together with Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer. The car features an interior design signed by Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, created with TAG Heuer design elements. These elements include a specially designed center console, purpose built to host a TAG Heuer concept watch.
