The year is 2074, and barn-find hunter Joe discovers a Tesla Cybertruck in a shed. The hauler is covered in surface rust, and Joe is blown away by the fact that the EV is still in one piece after 50 years. It's a very likely scenario, assuming we're still around in 2074 (global warming is no joke). But it's still 2024, and this rusty Cybertruck is a brand-new rig with a cool wrap.
Created by LuXe Concepts, the wrap turns the shiny Cybertruck into a corroded vehicle that seemingly spent decades outside, fully exposed to the elements. And even though we have yet to see a rusty Cybertruck, the pattern looks realistic enough if we ignore the clean bumpers, cladding, and wheels. I guess it would be a cool mod for Cyberpunk 2077 if you're into that type of thing.

But will a Cybertruck rust, given that it's made of stainless steel? Well, even though it's known for its corrosion-resistant properties, stainless steel will rust in certain circumstances. It will take longer than regular steel, but stainless steel will also rust due to water exposure. Likewise, saline, grease, and certain chemicals will also corrode the Cybertruck's body panels.

How long it will take depends a lot on the composition of the alloy. The amount of chromium is key here because it's the element responsible for the alloy's corrosion and rust resistance. The more chromium is included in the melting and casting process (usually up to 20%), the more resistant the alloy will be. Rust-resistant coatings also prolong the stainless steel's life against water and chemical exposure.

Tesla says the trucks are made of high-quality 300-series stainless steel that is both corrosion- and rust-resistant. However, some owners have complained on social media about brand-new Cybertrucks getting tiny rust spots after rainfalls. So, a rusty Tesla is not all that far-fetched.

Back to the Cybertruck in question, it's the second hauler that got a weathered wrap. The first one was created by Alejandro Salomon and found its way to the Internet earlier in May 2024. It's not as extreme as this one, though.

The Cybertruck has been the subject of many color changes via wrapping. And we've seen anything from black and satin white to turquoise, neon green, and even pink. Wild takes on the all-electric truck include a color-shifting finish and a "Back to the Future" tribute. It seems that the possibilities are pretty much endless when it comes to wraps.

If you enjoy such transformations, you can see this brand-new Cybertruck morph into a rusty rig in the video below. And yes, this one's a Cyberbeast, too, featuring a three-motor setup with a whopping 845 horsepower and 686 pound-feet (930 Nm) of torque.
