Subaru Wins Two Australia’s Best Cars Awards

It seems that Subaru is getting more and more attention. After reporting incredibly good sales in the US, the Japanese car manufacturer owned by Fuji Heavy Industries has another reason to celebrate: it won two titles in Australia’s Best Cars awards.

The first car honored by the Aussies was the Subaru Liberty 3.6R Premium, which was considered the “Best Prestige Car”. The Subaru Outback 2.5i was considered to be the “Best Recreational Vehicle.”

In order to reach a conclusion, several criteria were evaluated: safety, build quality, ride, handling, on road performance, design, function and value for money. The cars were evaluated by motoring organizations which have 6.5 million members throughout Australia. This year, they evaluated more than 360 cars.

“We are delighted that the new generation Liberty and Outback have been recognized by the independent and respected motoring organizations, whose rigorous, objective testing and research is highly regarded,” said Subaru Australia Managing Director, Nick Senior.

“The safety, durability and fun driving that Liberty and Outback represent is reflected in their sales, which are helping Subaru to a remarkably successful year in a challenging market.”

When receiving the award, Mr Senior insisted on paying tribute to the engineers from both Fuji Heavy Industries, the maker of Subaru cars, and Subaru Australia, who conducted extensive local testing to ensure the optimum set-up for local conditions: “We never take off-the-shelf models and are grateful to the factory and our own engineers, for their local testing in a huge variety of conditions.”
