Downsizing has never been more popular than it is now. People all over the world have embraced a simpler way of life and moved into compact dwellings that allow them more freedom and the opportunity to more deeply commune with nature. And with tiny home designs like the gorgeous Byron from Luxe Tiny Homes, downsizing has never looked more enticing.
Designed and crafted with eco-friendly and sustainably sourced materials, the Byron tiny home on wheels is one of those models that allow you to truly rethink your priorities, live off the grid, and adopt more sustainable living practices. On the other hand, due to its sturdy construction and modern amenities, it can as easily integrate into a conventional urban living scenario.

The Victoria, Australia-based team behind this model is a relatively new player on the tiny house market but has already achieved notoriety with its beautifully crafted mobile dwellings that offer comfort, style, and functionality in a compact package.

The Byron is a stunning tiny home that can make many folks fall in love with tiny living. Built on a triple-axle road trailer with each wheel electrically braked, this model is 9 meters long (29.5 feet) and 2.4 meters wide (8 feet), meaning it fits within the legal size requirements and can be towed around without a special permit.

Though the total interior livable space adds up to only 25 square meters (269 square feet), the designers managed to squeeze inside everything necessary to offer a great tiny living experience to a family of up to six people.

Modern and stylish even from a distance, the Byron is built with a sustainable pine timber frame and features a mix of matte black steel and western red cedar siding on the exterior. Like most Australian tiny houses, it is designed to take advantage of the country's incredible natural environment, so it features massive windows and glass entrance doors that create a seamless indoor/outdoor flow and a close connection to the surroundings.

Moreover, this model can be optioned with an extra large 5 m by 2.5 m (16.4 ft by 8.2 ft) deck including entry steps, perfect for hosting dinner parties with the entire family and your group of friends.

A marvel in space-efficient design, this compact home boasts a thoughtful layout that comprises a comfy living space, a large kitchen, a dining nook, a modern bathroom, a spacious ground-floor bedroom, and a loft that can be used either for storage or as an extra sleeping space. The 4.3 meters (14.1 feet) height allows for a commodious space up there, as well as extra comfort and brightness throughout the entire house.

The abundance of natural light in all the living spaces creates a sense of openness and makes the interior feel more spacious than it actually is. A simple glass window at one end of the house leads into the open-plan living/dining/cooking area. The lounging area is truly minimalistic, fitted with a small ottoman, a side table, and a chair, but it is spacious enough to accommodate a proper couch. Nevertheless, the addition of an area rug, a lamp, and some throw pillows make it warm and cozy.

Designed to cater to the needs of an entire family, the kitchen is large and functional, with plenty of cabinets and a pull-out pantry for storage and generous counter space for meal prep. A full-size oven, a four-burner stove, a rangehood, and a modern sink with black tap fittings ensure its functionality, and there is also space for a large fridge.

The breakfast bar opposite the kitchen is one of the highlights of this tiny home. It is made of locally sourced live-edge wood and comes accompanied by two elegant black stools. Strategically placed under bi-fold windows, it allows for beautiful views of the surroundings. Since there is no other dedicated dining area inside Byron, this minimalistic bar can also be used as a dining nook.

On their way to the downstairs bedroom, visitors will pass through the bathroom/laundry area. It's compact but still integrates a full-size glass shower, a cabinet, a basin sink, a toilet (which can be a flushable or compost toilet), and space for a washing machine.

The main floor bedroom is another standout feature of this compact home. Despite being quite generous in size (it fits a queen-size bed, nightstands, and a built-in wardrobe), it also offers direct access to the outside through a double sliding door. Having a downstairs bedroom is a highly-coveted convenience in a tiny home, but it's quite a luxury to also get to take in the lovely views as soon as you wake up every morning.

Finally, the only loft inside Byron can be accessed via a removable ladder and is spacious enough to fit a queen-size mattress. The positioning of the loft is also unusual. Instead of being located at one end of the house, it is right in the middle, just above the bathroom.

As mentioned, this tiny house on wheels has been designed with sustainability in mind, so you will find plenty of eco-friendly materials inside, such as timber floors, boutique recycled glass resin benchtops and shower walls, and very low VOC paints and materials throughout.

In terms of pricing, the Byron model is the most expensive in Luxe Tiny Homes' lineup, starting at AUD $169,890, which is approximately US $115,800 at current exchange rates. Depending on the customer's choice of materials and finishes, it can go even higher than that.
