Alfa Romeo is on a resurgence trend. It's a subtle one considering this brand only sold the Giulia sedan and Stelvio crossover SUV for years. But it's visible and audible – especially if you listen to the whispers from across the rumor mill.
The Giulia and Stelvio are fresh for the 2023 model year and are brimming with special editions in various regions. The Tonale compact crossover SUV, slotted below the Stelvio in the range, is also opening new roads toward electrification as the company's first-ever hybrid, not just the first new model in six years.

Additionally, the Italians are also adhering to their traditional cult status with the upcoming Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale sports car produced in just 33 examples starting sometime next summer. Powered by either the well-known 690T V6 engine or an all-electric powertrain, this flagship bridges the gap between past, present, and future in a marvelous, Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera-built way.

But what if Alfa Romeo continued along this path of redemption with additional revivals of bygone vehicles? Just recently the rumor mill discussed how the premium Italian carmaker may be interested in a new hatchback model to succeed the Giulietta from 2011-2020. Thus, nothing keeps the imaginative realm of digital car content creators from dreaming even more rebirths.

For example, Mateusz Piorun, a Polish automotive design student from Wroclaw, known as automatyve on social media, dazes and amazes with a personal design project that would see the Alfa Romeo Brera coupe (2005-2010) come back with a stunning design that would make the current compact sports cars like the Nissan Z or BMW 2 Series Coupe feel decidedly obsolete.

Of course, this is just wishful thinking – and the pixel master even clearly states it's a design done in his free time, "just for fun," so do not get your hopes up. That is quite unfortunate because this hypothetical Brera has all the right coordinates to succeed. For starters, although the classic Alfa Romeo visage is featured with a truly personal interpretation, it's still easily recognizable as part of the company's roster.

The visual identity is also reworked for the times we are living in – and you might almost mistake this Alfa Romeo for an EV. However, after you gasp a few times at the sight of the beautiful front LED treatment, sigh next to the perfect fastback coupe profile, and notice the modern look of the wheels or the cleanliness of the short rear overhangs, the revelation is simple – those big exhaust tips show there's something ICE-powered hidden under the long, sweeping hood.

Of course, since this is just a dream, there are no visions of the interior from the pixel master and also there's hint toward what could be hidden inside the engine bay. If our two cents are allowed on the matter, this looks like it could handle well the 2.0-liter turbo MultiAir with 276 horsepower from the Giulia Veloce models, right?
