It's not Valentine’s Day, but true love should not wait for a special holiday for celebration. That's the main takeaway from the latest campaign from Fiido, highlighting their "iconic" folding e-bike, the X.
Fiido X is among the most popular and successful crowdfunding campaigns on the e-bike market in recent years. Advertised as the perfect city bike because it combines high-quality components, solid performance, a folding frame, and a one-size-fits-all frame, the X is – apparently – even better if you get to enjoy it with your best friend. But not by sharing it, no.
As Fiido puts it, e-bikes are ideal for people of all ages and physical conditions. Whereas a traditional pedal-powered bicycle is excellent exercise, it's probably off-putting for those lacking the stamina or the physical ability to take it on extended rides. Add some motor assistance, and those same people might have a change of heart or, at the very least, be willing to reconsider their reluctance.
That said, if you're a good friend, you'll want your best mate to ride electric as well.
The Double the Ride, Double the Joy campaign from Fiido launches on July 25 and aims to encourage sales of the X in pairs, because everything is nicer in twos. Put differently, if you buy two such e-bikes with the view of sending one to your best friend, you will get 10+ accessories for free. Fiido is yet to specify what these accessories are but keep in mind that the bike already ships with free mudguards and kickstand.
Not that it matters all that much if you're looking for a good deal. The X is currently on offer with a $200 discount on the $1,799 original price, so the campaign is like the cherry on top of the cherry on top of the cake.
Jokes aside, the X is a solid, reliable, and very good-looking city bike, as we highlighted in our review from last year. Offered with an option between a 250W and a 350W motor, the latter of which is reserved only for the U.S. market, it promises an estimated range of 130 km (81 miles) from the 417.6Wh battery integrated into the seatpost for the 250W version.
The X weighs just 19.8 kg (43 lbs) and folds in two for easy transport and carrying up the stairs. Because it's very compact when folded, you can transport two of them in the trunk of a car without a problem, so it's perfect for extended rides in pairs.
The list of features includes a Shimano 7-speed gearshift, hydraulic brakes, torque sensor for instant motor assistance, and the Fiido password locking mechanism that offers extra peace of mind when you leave it parked.
