Rolls-Royce made it clear right from the start, even before deliveries commenced. Those who buy the Spectre EV are not allowed to sell the car within the first year after purchase. The ultra-luxury automaker is thus trying to prevent car flipping and stop non-Rolls-Royce enthusiasts from making a profit. Several brands have resorted to such sales restrictions in the past few years.
The 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre is the company's first EV, which the Goodwood-based carmaker debuted in October 2022 with a redesigned Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, an illuminated grille panel, a low yet intimidating stance, and the traditional naming inspired by the supernatural, plus the electric powertrain.

Between the moment the company announced the arrival of its first EV and the moment it made its debut, anticipation skyrocketed. Customers have been queuing to get one, and Rolls-Royce now has to deal with a never-ending waiting list.

With the deliveries starting in the last quarter of 2023, in order to protect the customers who are aware of the actual potential of the Spectre to become a classic with an ever-growing value, Rolls-Royce imposed a major restriction on all those who order one.

Those who sell their brand-new Spectre will be "banned for life!"

In the purchase contract, regardless of the name of the customer, it is reportedly stipulated that if they sell the EV within the first year of the purchase, they will be banned for life from buying another Rolls-Royce. "They are going immediately on a black list and this is it. You will never ever have the chance to acquire again," said Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos back in July 2023.

That threat should have been enough to discourage car flippers. However, someone is trying to cash in early and tries to sell a 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre equipped with the Launch Package.

The ultra-luxury EV is set in motion by two separately excited synchronous motors, each mounted on an axle, operating in an all-wheel drive layout for a total system output of 577 horsepower (585 metric horsepower) and 663 pound-feet (900 Newton meters) of torque.

Those figures make the car accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph) in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph (250 kph).

A lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 107 kWh stores enough energy to allow the Spectre to drive as far as 329 miles (530 kilometers) according to the WLTP rating (265 miles/425 kilometers on the EPA testing cycle) before it needs to be plugged in again. The battery can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 35 minutes when plugged into a DC charger.

The Spectre is finished in Tempest Grey and has the Shooting Stars headliner

The model that is being sold prematurely is finished in Tempest Grey with a Mandarin coachline over Scivaro Grey and Charles Blue leather interior with contrasting Mandarin stitching and piping on the seats and center console. Open-pore Obsidian Ayous veneers and Canadel door panels are a confirmation of opulence.

There is the Rolls-Royce-specific Shooting Star leather headliner and lambswool floor mats. A 415-watt 16-speaker Bespoke audio system offers a concert hall experience.

For the comfort of the occupants, the car is also specced with heated, ventilated seats with massage functions both front and rear. A surround camera system makes it easier to handle.

The Spectre It rides on partially polished seven-spoke 23-inch wheels that feature self-leveling Rolls-Royce center emblems, with Pirelli P Zero tires measuring 255/40 up front and 295/35 at the rear.

The model is equipped with the regenerative braking system, an adjustable air suspension, and Active-Rear Axle Steering for better maneuverability in narrow spaces.

Only 99 miles on the odometer

The 2024 already selling on Bring a Trailer (BaT) has only 99 miles (159 kilometers) on the odometer, so it is brand-new from anywhere you're standing. The seller is auctioning it off, and the bidding has hit $375,000, with seven days left to the end. It has not reached its MSRP just yet, but there is still time.

In the United States, the first-ever electric Rolls-Royce starts at $422,750. So there is still a long way to go for the bidders who failed to get a building slot and want their car electric, opulent, fast, and… ASAP, without waiting in line for their turn! Last year, the waiting times were of up to 15 months and counting, according to the brand's CEO.

Whoever will drive it home will have to pay a document fee of $1,995 on top of the final price. They will also receive the color-coordinated umbrellas housed in the front fenders, a clean CarFax report, and a clean Ohio title. In the few months from the moment it rolled off the production line in Goodwood, the United Kingdom, until now, it had no time to be involved in an accident.
