It's always fun to look at unconventional, contemporary-style tiny homes with a fresh perspective on mobile living. Still, nothing can match the comfort and familiarity of classic-style designs with their abundance of wood, traditional layout, and family-friendly features. Chinook Peak might look like a simple wooden cabin that belongs in a magical forest, yet it's packed with functional solutions.
Size-wise, Chinook Peak is among the smallest designs created by the popular Tiny Mountain Houses. This builder's portfolio ranges from 18-foot (5.4 meters) to 40-foot (12.1 meters) models, showcasing remarkable versatility that can suit anyone's needs.

At 22 feet (6.7 meters), Chinook Peak looks like an adorable fairytale home, but don't be fooled by the rustic charm of its exterior. This house on wheels is well-equipped for long-term living, boasting an excellent loft bedroom, a practical second loft area, and a residential-style kitchen.

This colorful tiny with a striking look comes on a heavy-duty custom-built trailer fitted with individual braking axles and heavy-duty scissor jacks mounted on all four corners. The various-sized windows and the unusual side entry create visual interest on the outside, serving a precise purpose on the inside.

The atypical side door leads straight into a large, inviting living room with enough space for a sofa bed and a large cabinet. Surrounded by windows and a glass entry door, this area benefits from lots of natural light and beautiful views. The main bedroom sits right above it. This primary loft combines 68 square feet (6.3 square meters) of space with a generous 8-foot (2.4 meters) height, resulting in a spacious, practical sleeping area.

Owners would be pleased to discover enough space for a king-sized bed in addition to the two custom-built cabinets with abundant storage. Storage can often be an issue with loft rooms due to size limitations. Yet, Chinook Peak manages to turn this area into an almost classic bedroom. Windows all-around keep the place bright and airy, with added help from the strategically-placed recessed lights. They do a better job than typical wall sconces and take up virtually no space at all.

Chinook Peak's main floor area is undoubtedly dominated by the impressive kitchen. Large and well-equipped, it almost seems out of place in such a small dwelling. Those who find it hard to part with conventional kitchens would be happy to find similar functionality with this tiny house galley-style kitchen. Appliances include an apartment-sized stainless steel refrigerator, an electric or propane cooktop, and a range hood.

You can't help but be impressed with the beautifully-crafted cabinetry. A huge pantry, cabinets with adjustable shelving, and extended-height overheads offer an unexpected storage capacity while being neatly integrated within the overall look of the kitchen. The abundance of woodwork looks rustic and premium at the same time, together with the generous countertop space and waterproof vinyl plank flooring.

Located at the other end of the house, the bathroom is another pleasant surprise. First of all, it's big. Secondly, it comes with premium equipment, including a 32-inch (81 cm) shower, a conventional toilet, and a porcelain sink with a large cabinet.

Storage is, once again, carefully integrated in the form of a beautiful four-door cabinet for linens. Last but not least, multiple windows help keep the area well-lit and well-ventilated. The large windows in the kitchen play a similar role, with the added benefit of great views while preparing meals or dining.

Both lofts exude the same rustic charm as the rest of the house, boasting beautiful pine flooring with a clear-coat finish. The white-framed windows create more visual interest, which keeps the abundant woodwork from appearing too heavy. As for access, simple ladders are available for both lofts.

This solution saves a lot of space compared to storage staircases. At the same time, it may not be the most convenient option for everyone. Those who aren't fans of ladders can opt for a custom staircase, but this might mean eliminating some of the storage elements in the kitchen or cutting space from the living room.

Chinook Peak's second loft can be used as a second bedroom, yet it's mainly designed as a multi-purpose room. At under six feet (1.8 meters), it offers 49 square feet (4.5 square meters) of space. It reveals just one window at the rear and two practical butcher-top decks. Owners can turn it into a second lounge area, a wardrobe, a library, or a playroom, depending on the needs of their family.

If used as a bedroom, the Chinook Peak can proudly claim to accommodate up to six people – an impressive capacity for such a compact space. Conversely, it can become a highly-comfortable and practical home for just two people, offering abundant space for other purposes and family-specific needs. Storage is where this rustic-looking tiny excels, despite only having 304 square feet (28.2 square meters) in total.

The versatile Chinook Peak is available starting at $79,980, with a wide range of potential customizations. Although perfect for couples or families, it also has great potential as an adorable vacation rental.
