With the new year just around the corner, automotive and motorhome manufacturers are beginning to unveil upcoming models. One such crew is Thor Motor Coach, and the machine we're exploring today is the 2024 Four Winds Class C motorhome. One of America's most beloved machines just got some massive upgrades.
Folks, Thor Motor Coach, was born back in 2010 as the result of a merger between two already-established RV crews. Since then, they've grown to be one of the teams that it pays to keep an eye on, especially if you're looking to join the mobile living lifestyle. In short, we can take their yearly commitment to crafting the perfect machine as the perfect example of how on top of things this crew may be.

Well, with 2024 just around the corner, Thor has begun to showcase next year's models, and one of them is the Four Winds, a Class C motorhome that uses nothing but a good old Ford E-Series chassis. It's the same chassis used to build ambulances, but some floorplans do offer an optional Chevrolet as the base vehicle.

Now, I'm going to skip over all the little knick-knacks that the Four Winds hides, so to give you an idea of what we're in store for, let's take a little trip through imagination and pretend that you own one of these babies. To do so, you'll need to dish out at least $116,700 (€105,700 at current exchange rates) for the least expensive of the 12 available floorplans. Oh, and if you haven't seen the images in the gallery, now's the time to do so.

One of the aspects that I found most attractive regarding this fresh lineup is the fact that Thor seems to have focused their attention on more than just crafting a comfortable motorhome. What I mean to say is that an array of features are aimed at outdoor living. Take the outdoor galley slide-out as the perfect example of what I mean. Sure, a galley also exists inside, but this way, you can spend as much time outside as possible. An entertainment center is also part of the outdoor activities you can partake in. Guess what? There's one inside, too, ready with things like the internet and a solid sound system.

Take a closer look at that exterior. You'll also see a ladder leading to the roof, meaning you can tend to systems up here, especially your optional solar panels. Along the sides, an awning expands to offer precious shade as you sit on the edge of some lake or beach. Maybe you're out in the woods, a feature you're sure to use daily. Let's head inside, shall we?

Upon entering the unit, what you see will depend entirely on the sort of packages you opt for and the floor plan, not to mention any extra cash that you throw at this mobile dream. Nonetheless, future owners can still look forwards to a few features native to all units. This includes a living room, the kitchen I mentioned, and bedroom(s). Heck, some units even hack slide-outs, so take the time to explore what's available.

But, generally, you're life will unfold as follows. I want you to picture yourself in the middle of some field on the edge of a stream you ran across, accessible only by some questionable dirt road; the Ford made it out here!

Outside, the awning is extended, the solar panels are working their magic, and the smell of the upcoming lunch being prepped outside fills the calm summer air. The sounds of children running around and laughter fill the air. Considering the smallest available unit can comfortably accommodate four guests, this one is for family and friends. Since you're a late riser, you decide to lay in bed for a little longer.

Upon getting up, you stretch your bones, arrange the queen bed you spent the night on, and head on to start your day. To do so, stop by the bathroom, freshen up a bit, maybe even shower, and get dressed. After, you poke your head out of the Four Winds, but the sun sends you flying back on that modular sofa sitting in the living room. For some units, this feature is replaced by a dinette. Go ahead, scroll a bit; that WiFi router is bound to be good for something.

From here, you head to the fridge, grab a slice of carrot left over from the breakfast you missed, why not a beer too, and head outside. With a smile on your face, you join the others outside and take your place on that empty chair. Take a moment to absorb the sights and sounds of the natural world around you and your family bustling about. Time for lunch.

As for the rest of your day, it'll depend on the sort of gear you brought along. Maybe there's an e-bike rack hanging off the rear of your Four Winds, or maybe you have some roof-mounted kayaks waiting for you. Fishing rods and tents? All have a place in these fresh units. What kind of lifestyle are you looking to lead?
