For over half of its 80-year history, RUF Automobile has been busy wrenching on Porsches and elevating the experience of driving one with the approval of the Stuttgart-based carmaker. After rising to fame with mind-blowing bespoke creations built on unmarked Porsche bodies and chassis, RUF gained full-fledged manufacturer status, bringing excellence to the sports car sector with its unique vehicles.
Now, the legendary tuner and marque has set up shop in the United States and has already announced the arrival of the first US production-spec vehicle - the 2024 RUF SCR Supercar.

The SCR is a marvel of engineering. Though it has a very Porsche-esque profile, it's the second model from RUF to be built from scratch. The car is developed on the company's in-house engineered carbon-fiber monocoque chassis that utilizes an integrated roll cage for additional rigidity.

This state-of-the-art platform, with a rear engine and manual transmission, is a rarity in modern sports car design and represents the brand's future as a manufacturer and "a remarkable piece of automotive engineering history."

Powering the 2024 SCR is a RUF-designed naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine, producing 510 hp at 8,270 rpm and 346 lb-ft (469 Nm) of torque. This impressive power is channeled to the rear wheels by a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, allowing the car to reach a top speed of 198.8 mph (320 kph).

The car's suspension and braking systems are further proof of the company's engineering prowess. The four-wheel double-wishbone suspension setup uses race-derived, horizontally-opposed coilovers that are electronically adjustable, while the braking system is equally advanced and consists of internally ventilated and cross-drilled ceramic-composite brakes.

The debut unit was unveiled by RUF North America in an elegant Ivory White livery, complemented by a black and gray Alcantara interior. The handcrafted bodywork is entirely made of lightweight carbon fiber and features a fixed rear spoiler, sports mirrors, and integrated door handles. All these elements are designed to enhance the vehicle's aerodynamics. Tipping the scales at just 2,756 pounds, the SCR is impressively nimble, with a claimed 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) time of 3.4 seconds.

The interior of this first unit is optioned with RUF's carbon-fiber lollipop bucket seats with Pepita inserts. Red stitching and red RUF SCR logos can be observed throughout the cabin, matching the red calipers and RUF logos on the centerlock caps. Power windows, LED lighting, and a comprehensive instrument panel with a central speedometer are also part of the interior design.

The owner of the first US production-spec RUF SCR took delivery of their car on December 12. In total, the carmaker will produce only 70 units of the 2024 RUF SCR, and all of them are already spoken for despite the seven-figure price. It's not clear how many of them will be delivered to the US, but the base price for this engineering marvel in the States is approximately $1.02 million.

RUF North America is headquartered within The Concours Club, a prestigious racing venue in Miami, Florida. The company's new facility includes a showroom with active inventory and a configuration lounge, and besides assisting clients in bringing in their new orders to US shores, they also let customers test their new RUF vehicles on the closed 2.5-mile race track right after taking possession of them as part of the delivery experience.
