It's no surprise anymore that Dodge has decided to kill the current Challenger and Charger, as both are aging products. The muscle car has been around since 2008, and its sedan counterpart has remained largely the same since 2010. And if you forgot, Ram is also pulling the plug on the 1500 TRX.
Nonetheless, Dodge is expected to bring back the muscle car in the near future, likely with an electric twist as previewed by the stunning Charger Daytona SRT Concept last year. Ram isn't willing to give up on having a performance-oriented truck in its lineup, as it hinted at a possible return of the nameplate.

For now, however, interested parties will have to settle for the 1500 TRX Final Edition, which includes some highlights over the normal model. These comprise stuff such as the patina stitching inside, a special splash screen, exclusive door card inserts, and other similar things. It also sports matte carbon fiber trim, and it comes with a choice of eight exterior colors, riding on bead-lock capable wheels in satin titanium.

There is no surprise under the hood, as the Final Edition rocks the same engine as the rest of the 1500 TRX lineup. It is the 6.2-liter supercharged V8, making an identical 702 hp and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque. The truck takes 4.5 seconds to deal with the 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) sprint, has a 118 mph (190 kph) top speed, and needs just under 13 seconds to run the quarter mile, with an exit speed of 108 mph (174 kph). The model will become available in the fourth quarter of the year, and production is expected to be capped at 4,000 units. Pricing starts at $117,625 before destination, $32,575 more than the base variant.

Now, the Final Edition version of the Ram 1500 TRX is a proper send-off for the series. However, the internet has come up with something that could be the ideal swansong not only for the sporty pickup but also for the Dodge Charger. And by the internet, we mean lightwork.digital, in the form of a few renderings. The digital illustrations portray the muscly sedan with a few things inspired by those of the 1500 TRX. It has a higher ground clearance compared to the rest of the range, rides on different wheels wrapped in new tires, and sports black cladding around the wheel arches. The TRX logo decorates the rear quarter panels, and it comes with a light bar and a vented hood, among others.

Between us, we like the design of the so-called Charger TRX, and we think it would be a great way to put the spotlight on this model before it bites the dust. But would you buy one if they made it?
