Arguably one of the sexiest sports sedans in the market, the Alfa Romeo Giulia has started to show its age. The Italian automaker is well aware of this, so they recently gave it a mid-cycle refresh.
Boasting revised styling and a few other novelties, the latest iteration should keep the model on the competitive side of the market for a few more years until the automaker readies its successor.
Speaking of which, the next Alfa Romeo Giulia is expected to go down the electric route. The all-new model will reportedly launch around 2025 and might have in the region of 350 horsepower for the base flavor, with the Veloce packing approximately 800 horses. As for the range-topper of the series, the Quadrifoglio, it has been said that it might launch with roughly 1,000 horsepower.
Those are truly impressive figures, and we will believe it when we see it. For now, though, we will get back to the current Giulia, which became the focus of a rendering artist recently. Looking to spruce up the design and make it even more appealing, kelsonik took extra care of the car's face, giving it an unofficial facelift. The Tonale crossover inspired the slim headlamps and larger grille, and we think this look suits the Giulia like a glove.
Now, as you have likely noticed, it is not your run-of-the-mill Giulia that received an unofficial mid-cycle refresh. It is not even the four-leaf clover-badged derivative but the even hotter GTAm. A challenger to the likes of the BMW M3 CS, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm sets itself apart from the lesser models by boasting a beefed-up design and additional bits and bobs.
You may want to pay attention to those bits and bobs, as they also include a weight loss and some work that went into the engine. The twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 is 30 horsepower (30 ps/22 kW) more powerful than the one of the Quadrifoglio, with the output now standing at 532 hp (540 ps/397 kW) thanks to the redesigned rods and pistons, Akrapovic exhaust system, and remapped ECU.
This is one dream machine that deserves to look better, and frankly, we don't know why Alfa Romeo chose not to give it a similar face to the Tonale, which is basically a re-bodied Jeep Compass based on the same underpinnings. Even the new headlamps, complete with the necessary adjustments to the front fenders, bumper, and hood, would have been enough to make this sports sedan even sexier.
And it is not only us who think the modern Alfa Romeo Giulia, regardless of the spec, would look better with such visual modifications, do we? You'd go for it in a heartbeat if money were no issue, right?
