Rare 2023 Dodge Challenger Hellcat ‘Black Ghost’ Special Edition Costs More Than a New 911

Still trying to figure out what the deal is with this car? Allow us to clarify. This “Last Call” Challenger is meant to pay tribute to the original Black Ghost, which was none other than Godfrey Qualls’ 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE.

As such, all 300 units were offered exclusively in Pitch Black, and in terms of performance, you’ll be glad to know these are no “common” Hellcats, but more on that later.

By the way, that seventh Last Call model was none other than the Challenger SRT Demon 170, with its absurd 1,025 horsepower (on E85 fuel). That’s an 8-second car.

Anyway, back to the Black Ghost, aside from the Pitch Black exterior, these special edition Challengers also feature “gator skin” roof vinyl, white rear fender stripes, a Midnight Metallic SRT grille badge, black Mopar pins for the dual scoop hood, plus a set of Satin Carbon 20” Warp Speed wheels with 305/35 Pirelli P-Zero All Season tires.

Since these cars are based on the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody specification, they also come with flared fenders, adaptive dampers and black six-piston Brembo brakes at the front.

The interior boats a gorgeous Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and both heated and ventilated black Laguna leather front bucket seats with Alcantara inserts and debossed SRT Hellcat logos. There’s carbon fiber trim throughout, while the door panels and headliner are covered in Dinamica.

This car, which is up for grabs to the highest bidder, was specified with the Driver Convenience and Technology groups, as well as the Plus Package, Uconnect system and a Harman Kardon sound system.

Now comes the fun part, specifically the power train. One would expect a special edition Challenger that’s based on the Hellcat Redeye Widebody spec to feature 797 horsepower, but alas, they’d be wrong.

Dodge have actually given the Black Ghost a total of 807 horsepower, just as you would expect in a Super Stock or a Jailbreak model. All that power, together with the 707 lb-ft of torque, gets sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission with a limited-slip differential. This Challenger also comes with Launch Control, Line Lock and an active exhaust system perfectly capable of waking the dead.

This car had a sticker price of $100,865, which is way less than what it costs now (with 13 miles on the clock). It would basically be cheaper to purchase a brand-new 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera, but to each his/her own.
