The 1992 Trans Am might not necessarily be a collector's dream, but an original example in tip-top shape deserves a place in an automotive museum.
The convertible in these photos is an unbelievable survivor, coming with only 30K miles on the clock. The owner guarantees it's the original mileage, with the original fuel-injected 5.0-liter V8 engine still in the car.

Let's have a look at the 1992 Trans Am production number and see why this convertible is so special.

Pontiac produced 27,569 Firebirds in 1992, the last year of the generation, and the Trans Am accounted for only a small share. The Trans Am was no longer as in the previous decades – in 1979, the Trans Am's best year, Pontiac sold over 117K examples, with the numbers then dropping gradually until this disappointing performance in 1992.

Pontiac built only 969 Trans Ams in 1992, plus 663 Trans Am convertibles. One of these convertibles is here in incredible shape, hoping someone sees it online and decides to take it home.

The vehicle comes with the optional WS6 Special Performance Package, which includes front disc brakes, a rear spoiler, and pop-up headlights, as well as power door locks and windows, power brakes, rally suspension, and a tilt wheel.

eBay seller pmclassiccarsales says the vehicle has also been upgraded with a Kenwood stereo system and a subwoofer, and while I hate aftermarket upgrades that kill off the original magic on a car, this setup could make the experience behind the wheel of this Trans Am more enjoyable.

The 1992 Trans Am could be had with a 3.1-liter V6 rated at 135 horsepower, a 5.0-liter TPI unit with 230 horsepower (also installed on this example), and a 5.7-liter TPI V8 mill with 210 horsepower (upgraded to 230 horsepower thanks to the Performance Equipment Group tuning).

It's hard to find something to complain about on this Trans Am, and despite being a relatively new car, I don't expect it to remain available for long. The selling price could be a problem, especially as the owners aren't willing to let it go cheaply.

The Trans Am landed on eBay with a reserve auction, meaning that despite the lower starting price, Internet bidders must send higher offers to take the car home. The only offer today is $17,500, but the reserve is still in place, meaning that bigger offers are required to find a new home for this car. The Trans Am will stay where it is for now, albeit anyone can unlock the reserve and get their hands on the vehicle without a fight by paying $24,500 and triggering the Buy It Now option.

The Trans Am convertible is sleeping in Elkhart, Indiana, and it should be able to drive anywhere on its wheels.
