If you're in the market for a new old Trans Am, someone on eBay recently listed a survivor whose place should be in a heated garage.
Their 1985 Trans Am sports an all-original package with everything in nearly tip-top shape, including the original paint. The car has never been involved in an accident, so the metal is spotless without rust or bondo.

The photos speak for themselves and confirm that the Trans Am is almost a perfect 10, so I'll move the discussion to something that could make many people place a bid right here and now. The car rolled off the assembly lines with a rare drivetrain that includes a special-order manual transmission.

The 5.0-liter V8 engine on the 1985 Trans Am was upgraded for this model year with Tuned Port Injection (also referred to as TPI). The engine output, thanks to this upgrade, was 205 horsepower. The new TPI configuration was only offered with a four-speed automatic gearbox.

This 1985 Trans Am ships with the same engine, but instead of an automatic transmission, the owner ordered the car with a manual unit. It was a special order that John Hine Pontiac in San Diego received from the same person who owned the car throughout its entire life.

eBay seller sandiegocarnuts says the Trans Am sells with the original manuals and documentation.

The Trans Am is "mechanically near perfect," with the car ready for the road, so you can take it home on its wheels. The one and only owner meticulously cared for the Trans Am, so I can't even spot a single spot requiring urgent attention. However, if you're interested in the car, you should still go check it in person before committing to a purchase. The owner says they can also offer a full walkaround description to any bidder.

The seller doesn't share mileage information, but the eBay summary reveals an intriguing number. The alleged mileage could be 11,972 miles (19,267 km), though it's unclear if the number is accurate. If it is, the Trans Am is a low-mile survivor unlikely to remain available for long despite selling with a reserve.

The digital fight is underway, with the top offer exceeding $5,500. The reserve is still in place, meaning that bidders must send bigger offers to take this Trans Am home. 27 people fight for the chance to own the car, though it's unclear how high the bidding must go to unlock the reserve.

The car can be found in San Diego, California, and considering its shape, you can drive it home behind its wheel. However, you might want to take it on a trailer if the mileage is accurate, as you shouldn't add any unnecessary miles to the fantastic odometer numbers.
