If the Polestar 2 isn’t sporty enough for you from the get-go, the Swedish brand is much obliged to improve the fastback sedan with a performance package. Ohlins will supply adjustable shock absorbers for the Polestar 2, but that’s not the end of the upgrades list.
Autoblog.com understands that customers will be treated to bigger brakes from Brembo, stickier tires wrapped around forged wheels, and go-faster details such as yellow seat belts for both the front and rear occupants. Pricing is estimated at $5,000 for the performance package.

Pricing for the Polestar 2 starts at $63,000 in the United States for the launch edition, which will also be available in Europe for €59,900 including value-added tax. Lesser models will follow, lowering the starting price to €39,900 in most markets across the Old Continent.

The launch edition relies on two electric motors for all-wheel drive and torque vectoring, more than 400 horsepower, 660 Nm (487 pound-feet) of torque, and a 78-kWh battery which promises a range of 500 kilometers WLTP and 275 miles EPA. Zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) can be accomplished in under five seconds, which means the Tesla Model 3 Performance is the quicker alternative.

Speaking of the Model 3, the American automaker is currently building a factory in Shanghai to manufacture the electric sedan for the local market alongside the Model Y. Because Polestar is owned by the Geely group, the 2 will be made in Luqiao starting in February 2020 if everything goes according to plan.

Chinese models will feature a 72-kWh battery for some reason or another. Initial launches will include China, the United States of America, Canada, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and the United Kingdom. Coincidence or not, these countries are the leaders in terms of EV adoption.

People who can’t wait for the 2 to be launched can place an order on the 1, a plug-in hybrid with 600 ponies and 1,000 Nm (738 pound-feet) of torque. The GT-oriented model will be produced in limited numbers, featuring an all-electric range of up to 150 kilometers (93 miles; NEDC) thanks to a battery capacity of 34 kWh.
