Arguably one of the prettiest cars in the mid-size segment, the Peugeot 508 was given a mid-cycle refresh earlier this year. Now, the model is celebrating its launch in the United Kingdom, with the French company announcing the pricing and specifications for both body styles for the sedan and station wagon, whose deliveries are scheduled to kick off in September.
Both are offered in three trim levels named the Allure, GT, and Peugeot Sport Engineered (PSE), with the former two dropping the Premium suffix used on their predecessors. Pricing starts at £34,020 (equal to $43,395) for the Allure Sedan and £35,220 ($44,925) for the Allure SW when ordered with the 130 ps (128 hp/96 kW) 1.2L PureTech gasoline engine. Choose the 225 ps (222 hp/165 kW) PHEV, and they will climb to £43,640 ($55,665) and £44,480 ($56,740), respectively.
The mid-range GT is offered with the same powertrain options. For the gasoline variant, you are looking at £36,670 ($46,775) for the four-door and £37,870 ($48,305) for the five-door. The PHEV starts at £46,290 ($59,045) for the former and £47,490 ($60,580) for the latter. Last but not least, the PSE sits at the top of the family with a plug-in hybrid all-wheel drive assembly producing 360 ps (355 hp/265 kW) combined. The 508 PSE can be ordered from £53,825 ($68,660), and the 508 SW PSE from £55,025 ($70,190). This makes it more expensive than a base BMW 5 Series, which has an RRP of £51,000 ($65,055) in the UK.
Part of the mid-cycle refresh, Peugeot's 2023 508 has Matrix LED headlights with three-claw signature standard across the range, full 3D taillights, and two new wheel options. The color palette was expanded to include the Titane Gray, Eclipse Blue, and Okenite White, and the Selenium Gray, which was previously reserved for the PSE, is now available on the lesser models, too. The body-colored accents on the Allure and GT are other notable highlights, alongside the black grille on the PSE for a meaner stance.
Fully customizable, the 10-inch infotainment system supports over-the-air updates and joins the 12-inch digital gauges inspired by the ones of the 308 and 408 families. Peugeot says the voice recognition was improved, and a new e-Toggle replaced the gear selector. Plug-in hybrid versions feature an extra control that allows drivers to adjust the regenerative braking level. The Allure gets a new HD reversing camera, and upgrading to the GT will get you the 360-degree system. Smartphone integration is included, and so is the wireless charging pad on the range-topping grade, otherwise optional on the Allure and GT. Two USB-C sockets are located inside the center console, and rear passengers have as many USB-A ports to charge their devices on the go.
