On November 1 at midnight, Mariah Carey declared that the Christmas season, or, as she calls it, Mariah SZN, is IN. But let's stay in the moment for a bit longer and take in the insanity that was Halloween in Hollywood.
Halloween is the best time of the year to have fun and simply don't give a hoot about what others might be saying. It's also about spending time with the family and pigging out on sugary treats, but they both go hand in hand with having fun.
Celebrity highlights from this Halloween include Diddy going as Batman and shamelessly rubbing it in in the face of Warner Bros. executives, and Heidi Klum, the undisputed queen of Halloween, opting for the most elaborate costume ever, involved an entire troupe of backup dancers and rigorous choreography.
Paris Hilton deserves an honorable mention, both for her choice of costume and for showing that a true queen never walks – she only slives.
Much like Mariah herself, Paris is often the butt of online jokes for what seems like an open aversion to walking. Mariah used to be carried by her dancers or wheeled around backstage at her concerts (and she probably still is, from what we know), while Paris rides e-scooters around her home. She didn't break the habit over Halloween.
This year on Halloween, Paris went as Britney Spears in the video for Toxic and as Katy Perry in the mushroom outfit she wore during her most recent tour. For the family Halloween costume, Paris, her husband, and their child did the three most recognizable characters from Super Mario: Princess Peach, Mario, and Luigi, respectively.
The two grown-ups also got a pair of Airwheel robots to roll around on in their driveway for a video that went up on Paris' live IG. This could have been a spon-con, but it's probably more in keeping with Paris' idea of "sliving," a phrase she coined that combines "slaying" and "living" and probably excludes walking unless she has no other option.
The SE3 Airwheel Robot Paris chose to be part of her costume is actually a piece of smart luggage from Airwheel, a China-based company that specializes in motorized carry-ons that double as last-mile mobility solutions. The idea of riding on your luggage as an adult as you go through the airport might seem ridiculous, but there's obviously a market for that out there – and it's not small, either.
The SE3 features a 250W motor, a 185Wh removable battery, electronic brakes, and an aviation-grade aluminum frame, and can hit top speeds of 10kph (6.3 mph). It stands out from other pieces of smart luggage for the fact that it can be used exclusively as an e-scooter, featuring a display with the essential stats, a USB charger that allows you to charge your laptop or phone, and Bluetooth speaker and smartphone connection so you can blast your favorite tunes as you're being hauled away.
It's not bad for an e-scooter that also allows you to carry your stuff and comes with a TSA-compliant lock.
