Let's be honest about it: while Rockstar is already working on some pretty big releases in the next few years, GTA 6 is the superstar that everybody is waiting for.
As such, it's no surprise Rockstar and parent company Take-Two have directed most of their resources to this title. Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the biggest game releases of the decade, and Rockstar wants to get it right from the very beginning (especially given the historic leak that took place not long ago).
The company's big focus on GTA VI means some projects received less attention. Sources familiar with the matter previously revealed that remakes or remastered versions of Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto IV had been shelved, particularly because Rockstar was working around the clock on the next version of the GTA franchise.
At one point, it was believed that Rockstar completely abandoned its plans to launch a GTA IV remake, but according to new speculation, that tidbit might have been inaccurate.
Take-Two revealed its plans for the fiscal year 2024, and in addition to some new releases, it also hinted that something big might be coming for GTA fans. Unfortunately, it won't be the highly anticipated GTA 6 but a remake of GTA IV.
The company said it wants to launch two "previously-released titles, as discovered by Twitter user @videotechx, who has an excellent track on Rockstar scoops. Rockstar did not share more specifics on these releases, but it's not hard to make a connection with the previous rumors on the planned remakes. Chances are the company wants to release Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption, and I expect them to be available on new-gen consoles, too (just like the remastered version of Grand Theft Auto V).
Sure enough, it's too early to talk about the specs and anything like that, but Rockstar will almost certainly re-release an old game. Grand Theft Auto IV could help reignite the interest in this popular franchise, especially as the company seems to be trying as hard as possible to maintain strong sales in an attempt to buy time until GTA 6 is ready.
And speaking about GTA 6, it's still expected to launch at some point in 2025. In theory, an official announcement in this regard should be made in the coming months, as Rockstar typically reveals its big titles approximately two years before the official launch. On the other hand, the timing could easily change, especially as Rockstar has so far remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to the game's launch date. For now, GTA fans have every reason in the world to keep their eyes on Rockstar's announcements, as a new release might not be too far.

Take-Two has unveiled its plans for Fiscal 2024, which spans from now until March 2024. Among their initiatives for this period, they have mentioned the release of two "previously-released titles." As of now, I don't recall them officially announcing these projects yet. pic.twitter.com/BNvHni5ybV
