New Infiniti G37 Coupe Coming in 2012

Infiniti is making sustained efforts to strengthen its position on the market. One of the vehicles that are representative for Nissan’s performance division is the G37 Coupe. We are talking about a four-seater that manages to combine sportiness with luxury in a premium package. Speaking of development, the carmaker is planning to release a new generation of the G37 Coupe in 2012, as Auto Motor und Sport reports.

The future incarnation of the car will bring a design revolution, with the designers planning to make a clear difference between the G37 Coupe and the Nissan 370Z. The adjacent image shows a rendering of the car, which was created by Mark Stehrenberger.

This change can only be a good thing, as it will bring more aggressive lines for the car, offering it a special personality. Should Infiniti choose to offer a design similar to that show in the rendering, the car will also offer a high level of practicality.

As for the tech side, the vehicle will be powered by an evolution of the current 3.7 liter V6 unit. The 348 hp incarnation of the engine, which is currently found on the range-topping IPL model, will become the standard powerplant. In addition to that, Infiniti may offer other, more economical units for the coupe.

The company could bring an entry-level version fitted with the 218 hp 2.5 liter six-cylinder unit that powers the G25 sedan. Another possibility would be a hybrid model, with the version borrowing the powertrain form the M35 hybrid model.
