Hybrids and electric vehicles are perhaps the best represented class of vehicles present at this year's Paris Auto Show. Almost all of the carmakers who have traveled to the French capital have brought a hybrid or EV with them, not mentioning here the carmakers whose only business is building EVs.

The luxury divisions of established manufacturers also joined the trend. Infiniti, the luxury brand working from within the Nissan group, brought with it the M35h.

The model, expected to hit the market in spring 2011 in Europe, is powered by a 3.5l petrol V6 engine which develops 306 PS and 350 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm, working in conjunction with an electric motor rated at 68 PS.

“Aided by an exceptionally fast charge/discharge response from the lithium-ion battery pack, the result is a hybrid that’s electrically powered for more of the time, and at higher speeds, than conventional hybrids,”
Infinit says.

The mix between the two technologies is enough to provide an acceleration time of 5.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). Being a hybrid, the model can brag with a fuel consumption figure of 7.3 l/100km (38.6 mpg) and CO2 emission levels of 170 g/km.

The 2011 Infiniti M35h is equipped with a motor/two clutch system, with the first clutch installed between the internal combustion V6 and the electric motor.

M35h will be offered in two trims, base and GT, but the prices for the car have not yet been announced. Additional details are to follow together with prices closer to the launch date.
