Once the Holiday spirit (pun intended) takes over, many of us discover that we’re again a little unprepared to select the perfect gifts for our loved ones. No worries, because automotive companies have that covered as well, and you can have virtually anything – from the customary ugly sweater to a gin infused with “genuine Morgan ash wood,” the material (in)famously used by the British company to create its cars.
Although Santa Claus is an international affair, we have seen the famous guy allegedly getting ready to switch to a new sleigh ride – and coincidence, or not, the old one is a 1990 Morgan 4/4. Sure, if that one was actually used during that one all-important night of the year, someone would have already sampled the Morgan x Piston Gin one too many times...

Speaking of the actual spirit drink created by Morgan and the Worcester-based Piston Distillery, the product does come out as a neat gift for someone with a love for all things created by the famous British automaker. Unfortunately, the company doesn’t ship internationally, so it’s the domestic fans that will bear the brunt of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Anyone can order the Morgan x Piston Gin directly from the carmaker’s online shopping portal, and the spirit can be had in a 70-cl. bottle for £45 (about $60 at the current exchange rates). Naturally, it can also be had in a limited-edition Morgan x Piston Gin branded gift box, which goes for £60 ($80).

According to the 111-year-old company, Morgan has finally discovered a creative way of putting to good use the surplus material resulted from creating the ash wood body-supporting frame of every Morgan.

Instead of getting rid of it, they sustainably redirect the “delicate shavings of the wood” towards Piston Distillery, an independent alcohol beverages producer conveniently located just nine miles (14 km) from their Malvern, Worcestershire, factory.

Unfortunately, we have no idea if the Morgan fans will be able to feel the taste of other automotive elements used in the construction of the company’s cars – such as the CX-Generation bonded aluminum platform.

On the other hand, the partners claim the drink “features notes of natural crisp sweet apple and delicate wood,” and its signature pour is “a ginger ale mixer, garnished with fresh blackberries and plenty of ice.”
