Although it's a niche brand, Mercedes-AMG – headquartered in Affalterbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany – has a lot of power nowadays, both internally and externally.
For starters, it touches almost every model series Mercedes-Benz currently makes, and it has bonkers treats like the Mercedes-AMG G 63 4x4 Squared, a behemoth off-road luxury SUV, or the Mercedes-AMG ONE, a mind-bending Formula One-inspired hypercar.

However, its main norm is stuff like the Mercedes-AMG GT or SL models. In fact, these two actually make the high-performance subsidiary a veritable automobile producer, as they currently have no direct correspondence with a Mercedes-Benz series.

And while the second-generation (C192) AMG GT was unveiled most recently – in August 2023 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance during the fabled 2023 Monterey Car Week in California – some people still only have eyes for the platform sibling, the R232 seventh-generation Mercedes-AMG SL.

Some would say it's just a two-door luxury high-performance roadster like any other. No longer sold under the Mercedes-Benz banner, this iteration is now exclusive to Mercedes-AMG and was introduced as the direct replacement for the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster in the summer of 2021.

However, some people never got over its trio of choices – the SL 43 with the 2.0-liter M139 turbo mill and 'just' 375 hp, plus the SL 55 and SL 63 4Matic+ powered by the legendary M177 V8 bi-turbo and rocking 469 or 577 horsepower. And that's valid even across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, which is supposed to be in tune with everything fresh and new.

Well, Sugar Chow, the virtual artist better known as sugardesign_1 on social media, has circled back to one of his favorite pieces of unofficial Mercedes-AMG design – the hypothetical Mercedes-AMG SL Shooting Brake. I know that some of the pixel master's fans already know this project by hard by now, but these life-like renderings were too stunning not to share them for the entire world to see.

Besides, suppose there's even the slightest chance of someone from AMG seeing these CGIs and thinking that it's a stellar idea to make the SL 63 4Matic+ into a coupe with additional space in the trunk for some golf or hunting adventures. In that case, we will keep sharing them whenever the author comes out with new perspectives.

As for modifications, it is pretty obvious that it won't take much to make this vision come true. Mercedes-AMG already makes the GT two-door coupe, the GT 4-Door Coupe, and the SL roadster – and it wouldn't be far-fetched to imagine a Shooting Brake on the same assembly line. We would, of course, love it with the 577 hp AWD SL 63 version, but even the SL 55 powertrain is more than enough to stand out in any crowd after capturing the imagination of everyone.
