Want a new Renault since they’ve facelifted a whole bunch of their models recently? No? What if we told you the Megane RS now has as much power as the Tropy, a fully 265 hp to rival basically anything available until the Astra VXR arrives.
Renault might have substantially reduced its UK market offering, but it’s left the best and the brightest in there of you to enjoy. Order books are now open for the Megane RS 265 and prices start at £24,825 for the stripped out Cup version, o £26,025 for the regular Renaultsport. Deliveries are to take place in early April.
In case you didn’t notice already, this means that the 2012 model has 15 more hp and 20 Nm of extra torque compared to when the current generation of fast Megan made its debut. When you stick the Dynamic Management system in ‘Sport’ to release the full power, you get a car that’s capable of an impressive 6.1 second sprint.
To achieve these gains, Renaultsport’s wizardry has seen the engine’s maximum turbo pressure uprated to 2.5 bar, up by 0.2, together with the air intake being revised to take account of the higher pressure and running temperatures.
