Lynk & Co has just released the first teaser images of the 07-EMP sedan, which is, in fact, a Volvo in disguise. It is underpinned by the exact same platform as the Volvo XC40 Recharge but with a different powertrain.
The CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) Evo platform is the result of the collaboration between Geely and Volvo. It now also underpins the 07-EMP plug-in hybrid sedan, which is currently undergoing winter tests in North China, where temperatures can go as low as -40 degrees Celsius (-40 degrees Fahrenheit).

The Chinese startup, which was founded in 2016 in Gothenburg, Sweden, has just released the first official photos of the model wearing camouflage. However, it is obvious that we are dealing with a compact sedan sporting a sleek silhouette.

The camouflage also hides the headlights, which seem integrated into the front bumper. However, the front fascia should resemble what we have seen in the previous models bearing the Lynk & Co badge, with headlights that sport a Y-shaped light layout, with the fork pointing down. The brand is currently selling the 01, 02, 03, 05, 06, 08, and 09 on the Chinese market and is now getting ready to launch the 07.

The prototype shown in the photos rides on multi-spoke alloy wheels with a sporty design. The retractable door handles and the sloping roofline enhance the athletic nature of the model. At the back, an LED light strip connects the taillights, splitting the tailgate into two different sections.

The CMA Evo platform also underpins the 08 crossover coupe that the brand unveiled in 2023, and it will serve as the basis for more plug-in hybrids coming from both Volvo and Lynk & Co. Geely and Polestar are also using the architecture.

Customers should be able to choose one of the three powertrain options available in the future lineup of the 07-EMP plug-in hybrid sedan, which should mimic that of the 08 crossover.

All variants are powered by a 1.5-liter engine with 161 horsepower (163 metric horsepower) and an electric motor. Equipped with the 21.2-kWh battery pack, the entry-level version gets an e-motor that brings along 215 horsepower (218 PS) for a total of 375 horsepower (381 PS).

Upper in the range, we find the version with the same output, but with the larger battery, which sports a capacity of 39.8 kWh.

At the top of the lineup sits the 07-EMP with 585 horsepower (593 PS) and a larger battery pack, featuring a capacity of 39.8 kWh.

The Lynk & Co 07 EM-P plug-in hybrid sedan should enter production in February this year, according to a report from the brand leaked last week. Meanwhile, deliveries are set to start this spring. Before that happens, the startup should reveal the model with no camouflage.
