Geely, the Chinese company that has bought Volvo, has big plans for the future, and the latest one involves something called LYNK.
The Chinese corporation that also owns the company that builds London Black Cabs has made a website for the new brand, which it calls Lynk&Co. We are not sure if the “&Co” will remain in the name of the new trademark owned by Geely, but we would be slightly disappointed if it did.
We are only 15 days away from the official announcement of the brand, which is scheduled in Berlin on October 20, 2016. It is worth remarking that the organization will hold a press conference about "Lynk&Co" with just a day in advance.
The said event will take place in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, and we know this because the guys at Jalopnik got an invitation and wrote about the event.
The first guess is that Geely’s new venture is a car brand, but we believe it might as well be a mobility service. We believe this might be the case because the teaser website shows people enjoying various activities in a city, but nobody is driving. It is not a rule for car commercials to have a vehicle in them, but it is a good idea to show one sometime in the clip.
However, it is important to note that the website’s privacy policy mentions a company named “China-Euro Vehicle Technology Aktiebolag.” The last word is not present in the abbreviated name of the company, which they use as “CEVT.”
Since there is a “vehicle” in the name of the enterprise, it might lead most to believe that the new business is a car brand, and not just a new mobility service that might compete with Uber or other services of this kind.
On the same page, we noticed that the China-Euro Vehicle Technology has its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, the same place where the conference will be held on October 19, 2016.
