One Los Angeles man didn’t want to wait for life to hand him lemons, so he went ahead and got them on his own, without as much as paying for them.
He is now being investigated on the charge of theft of agricultural products and is facing some time behind bars, NBC Los Angeles reports. Deputies from the Riverside County Sherrif’s Office were investigating a series of agricultural thefts in rural communities, when they pulled over the 69-year-old man and found his vehicle packed with stolen lemons.
“Dionicio Fierros of Los Angeles was pulled over at 9:45 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Grapefruit Boulevard and Pierce Street and was arrested when deputies found 800 pounds of freshly picked lemons in his vehicle that sheriff's officials said were stolen,” the report notes.
Fierros is believed to have stolen the lemons from a nearby farm in Eastern Coachella Valley, though it’s unclear at this moment if the theft had been reported.
“Fierros was booked into the Indio Jail and was released after posting $10,000 bail,” the report continues. No phone number for Fierros was found in the public records, when the media tried to contact him for comment.
The doesn’t say what Fierros planned to do with the lemons, though common sense would say he was looking to sell them for a profit.
A decidedly more fun, if less lucrative way to use so many lemons would have been the one used by YouTuber Mark Rober in June this year, when he took the Volkswagen challenge to charge one of their supercars using lemons.
The result, best described as one giant science experiment, didn’t yield extraordinary results in terms of the charge produced by the 1,200 lemons, but it was definitely fun to witness. The charge was small but because it existed, it counted.
