Dodge is doing a bittersweet move. It is the last time the Challenger and Charger are getting Mopar Editions. Only 220 of each will be built for the North American market. And you can have one any color you want, as long as it’s black.
The carmaker simply calls the two Mopar ’23 Dodge Challenger and Charger special edition models. And they are the last to get the HEMI V8 engine.
Based on the R/T Scat Pack Widebody trim and powered by the 6.4-liter HEMI, they have only undergone plastic surgery, with no interference on output whatsoever.

That means that the power plant is still rated at 485 naturally aspirated horsepower. It is mated to a six-speed manual, standard on the Challenger, while the eight-speed automatic transmission comes for extra money. The Charger only get the eight-speed auto box.

The models get the SRT-tuned Widebody competition suspension with Bilstein three-mode adaptive damping, as well as Brembo brakes with six pistons at the front and four pistons at the rear. Meanwhile, the calipers display a Mopar blue shade instead of the standard Dodge black. The cars run on exclusive forged-aluminium Carbon Black 20-inch wheels with 305/35 Pirelli P Zero summer performance tires, housed by widebody fenders in the body color.

The two limited-run editions are easily recognizable. Unique matte-black graphics and Mopar Blue tracer stripes show up on the hood, roof, and decklid, matching the badge in the radiator grille and brake calipers. For the first time, an exclusive feature to the special edition models is the carbon fiber spoiler.

The Mopar branding is also visible on the floor mats and instrument panel. Carbon fiber accents and a suede headliner in black are brought on board by the Carbon Suede Interior Package. There are also a heated, flat-bottom and leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, bright pedals, and a premium stitched dashboard panel.

Only 440 such cars will see the light of day, 220 of each. 200 will be for the American market, while Canadian customers will get 20. All of them will be Pitch Black Clear Coat and will be available for $3,995 more compared to the price of the 2023 Charger and Challenger Scat Pack Widebody.

In the US, the Challenger Scat Pack Widebody starts at $55,855 including destination fee, while the Charger goes for $57,920. Price includes a custom-made kit, a personalised metal certificate of authenticity with serialised vehicle-build number and a special rendering of the car made by the Mopar design team.

Production is slated for September and first deliveries are planned for October. It won’t take long before they’re done. The Dodge Charger and Challenger will be gone by December. So final countdown has already started.
