In case you thought the spoof saga of Matthew McConaughey’s Lincoln ads will end with Jim Carey or Ellen Degeneres here we are proving you’re wrong. It turns out mocking the Oscar winning actor is good enough to advertise kids electric cars too.
Ever since Matthew McConaughey partnered up with Ford’s luxury division it would seem the world of advertising cars has discovered a whole new way off selling them. Comedians, TV hosts and now even kids have been doing funny remakes of the Interstellar actor’s advertorials. But instead of ruining it, sales are up by 25% and the model sold best is the same the actor is driving the MKC crossover.

We’re guessing people in the Lincoln’s marketing department never even dreamt things could work out so well with them the moment they asked for the Lincoln Lawyer actor to join the crew. Call it a spoof or just a way of using McConaughey’s fame to advertise their own products, but it turns out the strategy is working for the toy cars industry as well.

At least that is what American toy producer Fisher Price thought the moment they got a 6 year old kid to sit in his toy car in a suit just like the True Detective actor’s. Holding one hand on the steering wheel, the little fellow says dreamily: “I’ve been driving Power Wheels since long before anyone paid me to drive one”.

It turns out marketing can be funny and still make money after all.
