Remember the XE? Jaguar's very disappointing successor to the X-Type was axed from the United States after the 2020 model year due to extremely poor sales, with the Leaping Cat of Coventry cutting the price of the XF by $7,100 for 2021. Did it work, though? The answer is a big fat no, with XF deliveries totaling 1,194 examples in 2021.
Turning out attention to the XE, which continues to be sold in other markets, a handful of sedans produced to US specifications are called back over a concern with the rearview camera. Suspect vehicles all feature the Navigation Pro system.

Back in October 2022, the safety boffins at Jaguar Land Rover were informed of the rearview camera image not being correctly displayed in a customer's vehicle. The Product Safety and Compliance Committee within Jaguar Land Rover tasked the engineering department to investigate pretty much everything from the software of the infotainment system to the wiring and routing.

Lo and behold, wiring damage may lead to the rearview camera image displaying intermittently or giving up the ghost for good. Both outcomes don't meet the requirements of a certain motor vehicle safety standard (number 111 for rear visibility), which is why Jaguar didn't really have a choice but to call back a total of 3,134 sedans.

Affected vehicles were manufactured exclusively for the 2019 model year at the Castle Bromwich and Solihull assembly plants in the United Kingdom. Their production dates range between June 18, 2018 and July 9, 2019. All of them feature a camera wiring harness produced by Newcastle-under-Lyme's Leoni Wiring Systems UK LTD.

As expected, retailers will be instructed to inspect the rearview camera's functionality and wiring harness. If the image displays just fine and the harness isn't damaged, service technicians will replace some clips to ensure the correct routing.

If needed, both the wiring harness and cable retaining clips will be replaced. At no charge to the owner, of course! Jaguar's North American division will inform owners of this recall no later than September 15 by first-class mail. No crashes or injuries have been reported as a result of this problem, yet Jaguar is aware of 26 field reports and warranty claims filed with the British automaker from February 2021 to July 2023.

Codenamed X760, the X-Type's underwhelming heir apparent was launched in September 2014. Series production kicked off in April 2015, with the XE being underpinned by the Jaguar Land Rover D7a platform of the XF and F-Pace. The Range Rover Velar also uses this rather outdated platform.

Once available with Ford's 2.0-liter EcoBoost, the XE is Jaguar's most affordable car at press time. In the UK, the most spartan configuration available is 33,230 pounds sterling as opposed to 43,185 for the E-Pace. At current exchange rates, make that $42,665 for the rear-biased sedan and $55,440 for the front-biased yet all-wheel-drive crossover.
