Seemingly out of nowhere, the Jaguar F-Pace has been spotted testing in full camo on the German autobahn road network. The prototype is fully camouflaged and sports quad exhaust pipes.
Now, we don't doubt that the F-Pace may be due for a facelift any time now, but the creases in the rear bumper and four exhaust pipes are indicative of the hardcore SVR model, the drunk uncle who used to be a pro boxer.
As its name suggests, the F-Pace SVR currently packs Jaguar's legendary 5-liter supercharged V8, shared with the F-Type and Range Rovers. However, despite the world being obsessed with performance SUVs right now, this one isn't getting a lot of traction.
It's possible that Jaguar is going back to the drawing board with help from an unlikely source: its direct luxury car rival BMW. Various reports talked about a partnership being formed where the British brand would gain access to engines and even platforms.
The natural candidate for the SVR's engine swap would be a 4.4-liter bi-turbo like the one you'd find in the M850i or the M5. The out has been all over the place in recent years, from about 450 to 625 horsepower, but it's clearly possible to make the F-Pace even crazier than its current iteration.
Another possibility would be to use the inline-6 bi-turbo from the BMW X3 M and X4 M. This stops at 510 horsepower, but would be cheaper and cleaner. The problem with this theory is that Jaguar Land Rover just finished making its only inline-6 that makes 400 HP in a mild Range Rover state of tune. So it's possible that we have an Ingenium engine in this prototype and not something from BMW.
Either way, this is a big scoop from YouTuber Automotive Mike that's worth the time of both Jaguar and BMW fans.
