Word has it Honda will end production of its Ridgeline compact pickup truck in late 2014, only to reintroduce the vehicle in mid-2016.
According to Ward’s Auto, Honda’s plans for the next-generation Ridgeline aren’t clear, especially with a lot of automakers reconsidering their approach on the compact truck market. However, the Japanese company says the Ridgeline is still an important part of its lineup.
“(While) we don't comment on future product decisions, Ridgeline continues to be an important part of our lineup and we're pleased with Ridgeline sales, up 24% year-on-year and 32% in June,” said Honda spokesman Steve Kinkade.
The Honda Ridgeline was introduced in the United States as a 2006 model. The vehicle is assembled at Honda’s Lincoln, Alabama plant.
