The Ford F-250 pickup truck is the most popular vehicle among US thieves, HLDI revealed earlier this week with a list made up of model years from 2010 to 2012.
The all-wheel drive Ford F-250 crew cab truck tops the company’s list with a frequency of seven per 100 insured vehicle years, nearly six time the average for all vehicles. The Blue Oval-badged pickup is followed by the Chevrolet Silverado (6.7), the Chevrolet Avalanche (6.1) and the GMC Sierra (6.0).
Surprisingly enough, the Cadillac Escalade is only the sixth vehicle on the list after being the favorite targe of thieves for quite a while. According to HLDI, Escalade thefts have dropped due to Chevy’s new antitheft technology and slower sales.
At the bottom of the list, meaning the least stolen vehicles, HLDI included the Dodge 4WD Journey, Volkswagen Tiguan 4WD, Audi A4, Acura RDX, Toyota Matrix, Lexus HS 250, Honda CR-V and the Hyundai Tucson 4WD, all with a rating of 0.4.
