Honda doesn’t currently offer any all-wheel drive vehicles below the CR-V, yet that will soon change, as the Japanese giant has big plans for the market sector represented by the Nissan Juke. According to Honda CEO Takanobu Ito, who has spoken with autocar.co.uk, once the new generation Jazz/Fit makes its debut, in 2014, it will be shortly followed by sedan and crossover versions of it.
The SUV-style Jazz would not, however, be a larger Jazz, but instead, it would be considered a ‘younger brother to the CR-V’. It is not surprising that Honda wants a piece of the small crossover action, as it is one of the safest types of car a manufacturer could invest its money into, right about now, with cars like the Juke, the Mazda CX-5, Audi’s Q3, the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLA, as well as a whole slew of German, French and even Italian offerings, the automakers are looking to get a firm footing in the sector, before the others.

This new model is part of Honda’s mid-term plan to increase the number of cars it sells per year, from the 4-million they managed to shift this year, to 7-million by 2017.
