It’s been about 18 months since Honda unveiled the 2012 Civic at the New York Auto Show, and already a facelift has been unveiled, one which addresses all the major issues people had with the car. After criticizing it so much, we have to admit the Civic has become quite an interesting car to buy from just $16,000 or so.
The 2013 model will be shown officially at the Los Angeles Auto Show this month, with US sales starting at the same time. Through September, this semi-badly built and designed Civic boosted sales 40%, so this one will be a runaway success story.
The new Civic renounces its bland front end in favor of something that seems to be grafted from the new Accord. The big chrome elements in both the upper and lower grille give it that up-market feel that was lacking.
"The 2013 Honda Civic exterior refinements infuse Civic with a more youthful, premium style. Coupling these with additional changes beneath will ensure that Civic maintains its top-ranked status," said Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of product planning for American Honda.
Will know the full story when Honda unveils the car at the LA Auto Show, but for now, enjoy the two photos they’ve released.
