Honda has quite big plans for the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. The company is going to present a small hatchback made from acrylic resin, together with other products. The 2023 Japan Mobility Show starts on October 25.
The Japanese have scheduled several world premieres for the event taking place next month. The lineup they will display includes the Specialty Sports Concept. There is no word on the size of this model, but it sure looks compact, and the photos confirm that we are dealing with a two-seater. It will be an electric vehicle, which Honda claims, is fun to drive and "will enable people to transcend their every day life." What that actually means, we are to see at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show.
Honda will also bring the Sustaina-C Concept to the event. It looks like a downsized Honda e, the company’s first EV, in production since 2020, and sports a body made entirely from acrylic resin, which is recyclable and reusable.
The Asian company says that this is a new approach on transportation in a dimension where people do not have to worry about their impact on the environment.
The Pocket Concept, a pocket-sized motorcycle made of sustainable materials, is also going to be there. And so is the CI-MEV two-seater EV hatchback, specifically designed as a last-mile mobility means, where public transportation is not available. The model is equipped with automated driving technology.
The Honda SC e: Concept (no connection whatsoever with the naturally aspirated petrol engines produced by Renault and marketed as SCes) is an electric motorcycle with swappable batteries. The energy is stored in the Honda Mobile Power Pack e lithium-ion battery unit that Honda builds together with Panasonic.
A Prologue prototype is also going to be on display next month in Japan for the first time. It previews the upcoming Honda Prologue electric crossover, which is set to arrive in 2024 as the first in a new series of volume electric models. Honda unveiled the Prologue concept car back in October 2022 and announced it will be unveiled as a production model in 2024, which is quite a long time to wait.
Riding on a platform developed in partnership with General Motors, the Honda Prologue will come with the Ultium batteries and will be a Chevrolet Blazer with Japanese styling.
The Prologue will measure 192 inches (4.88 meters) in length, 78.3 inches (1.99 meters) in width, and 64.7 inches (1.64 meters) in height, and will sport a wheelbase of 121.8 inches (3.09 meters).
Honda is targeting carbon neutrality for its products and corporate activities by 2050. This means that it needs to boost sales ratio of electric cars and fuel cell vehicles in North America from 40% by 2030 to 100% in 2040.
