If you were wondering what's Honda doing and why is it a bit late with new model year announcements, wonder no more, as the Japanese finally broke their silence.
This past weekend autoevolution ran an in-depth story on the Honda Gold Wing, the king of motorcycles and the touring machine that sent shivers down Harley-Davidson's spine. Somewhere in there we were wondering if the iconic model will come back for the 2024 model year, given Honda's silence.
We now stand corrected, as the Japanese bike maker announced which of its road models will make a comeback in new model year guise. In all, six bikes have been confirmed so far to return, and the Gold Wing, of course, leads the pack.
Don't expect too many changes, though, as this is not a new generation or some important refresh for either of the six bikes. Only some new colors, and slightly different pricing here and there are the novelties for the new year.
In the case of the Gold Wing, that means we get the same massive 1,833cc six-cylinder engine tied to both a standard and a DCT automatic transmission. For 2024, just three color combinations are available, namely Pearl White, Gray Metallic/Black, and Matte Armored Green Metallic. Pricing for the Gold Wing starts at $24,700, and the new model year becomes available as early as this week.
The cruiser segment is spearheaded in 2024 by the Rebel 1100, it too offered now in new color combinations (Metallic Black, Matte Armored Green Metallic, Gray Metallic, and Metallic Blue). This bike will become available for purchase in January 2024 and will go for prices starting at $9,549. The biggest change for the range is the availability of a 6-speed manual transmission version from now on.
The 1100 will not be the only Rebel making a comeback. The 300 and 500 versions are here to stay as well, selling from $4,849 and $6,499, respectively. They too will start selling in January of next year.
Up next is the NC750X adventure bike, coming back in new model year guise (from January) for $9,499 and in a single color, Matte Nightshade Blue.
Wrapping up Honda's lineup refresh for the 2024 model year is the $11,499 Fury, it too sporting a new color scheme, Adventure Green. This one will start selling in December.
