As you likely already know, the Challenger and Charger duo are about to be phased off, joined by the menacing Ram 1500 TRX. But on a more positive note, Dodge has announced that the Durango SRT Hellcat will live on for now, at least into the 2024 model year.
Sitting at the top of the family, it uses the ubiquitous 6.2-liter supercharged V8. The HEMI engine still kicks out 710 hp (720 ps/530 kW) and 645 lb-ft (875 Nm) of torque, allowing it to hit sixty miles per hour (97 kph) in just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph (290 kph). Dodge says it can run the quarter mile in a staggering (for an SUV) 11.5 seconds.

Not only does the SRT Hellcat live on in the 2024 Dodge Durango family, but so does the lesser SRT 392, which sits above the R/T, Citadel, GT, and SXT in this order. This model uses the 392 cu-in HEMI V8 that develops 475 hp (482 ps/354 kW) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm). The output and thrust produced by the 6.4-liter unit enables the 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) in 4.4 seconds, and the vehicle can deal with the ¼ mile in 12.9 seconds.

Standard on the R/T and optional on the Citadel, the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 is good for 360 hp (365 ps/269 kW) and 390 lb-ft (529 Nm), enabling a top speed of 145 mph (233 kph) and best-in-class towing of 8,700 lbs (3,945 kg). The rest of the family features a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that makes up to 295 hp (299 ps/220 kW) and 260 lb-ft (353 Nm).

Curious about the novelties? They will not blow your mind, that's for sure, as the American company says the blind spot monitoring feature is now standard across the range. Models that sport the Trailer Tow Group get a new blind spot monitoring system with trailer detection. Moreover, the Citadel trim level can be had with the Tow N Go Package for the 2024MY, inspired by the one on the R/T. Some of the highlights comprise the sporty exterior looks complete with the 20-inch alloys, standard black brake calipers or optional red ones, adaptive dampers, electronic limited-slip differential, retuned active noise cancellation, and a few other goodies.

Dodge has yet to reveal how much the 2024 Durango costs in the United States, but it is probably a bit pricier compared to the 2023 lineup. Speaking of which, you are looking at a minimum of $40,140 for the SXT, $42,640 for the GT, $53,240 for the R/T, and $54,140 for the Citadel with 2WD. The 4WD system is a $2,000 extra across the range. The SRT 392 and the SRT Hellcat are offered with standard 4WD and have respective MSRPs of $72,715 and $93,605.
