Off-road racing has been around, well, since there weren’t that many roads around. The roots of the sport can be traced back to the beginning of the 20th century. Still, it wasn’t until closer to our time that it all got organized, both as far as races are concerned and also when it comes to the machines used.
The trophy truck class, for instance, didn’t come to be until the 1990s, bringing with it the liberation of teams from having to use production hardware.

Presently, there are so many off-road competitions out there it’s extremely difficult to make a list of favorite ones. Globally, one of the most famous is, of course, the Dakar Rally, but the U.S. has its share of high-profile events like the Baja series, Vegas to Reno, or Parker 425.

Any of the above races would be a perfect fit for the TSCO Racing Trophy Truck we have here. A full custom build, it stands ready to take on the unbeaten path as soon as teams find the $550,000 required to purchase one.

That pile of cash lands people a hardcore machine ready for pretty much everything nature has to throw at it. The custom TSCO chassis supports a FiberwerX fiberglass body with carbon fiber skids and panels, but also the hardware needed for the off-roader to go about its business.

Power comes from a Dougan Racing engine controlled by means of a Turbo 400 transmission. The powerplant's displacement and power are not specified, and that's likely because the chassis can support engine packages with different specs.

To be able to tackle the harshest of terrains, the truck runs Fox front and rear suspension, with 24- and 30-inches of travel, respectively. At the end of these systems sit 40-inch BFGoodrich tires wrapped around 17-inch Method racing wheels, while braking power is supplied by Brembo hardware.
