Previewed by the eponymous concept from a few months ago and copiously spied on ever since, this is Genesis' first foray into the sprawling coupe-SUV world – where it will spar with the likes of Audi Q8, BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.
The new model in the series is expected to launch in the United States, too, as a 2024 model year. But for now, we have to settle for the details pertaining to the initial global reveal as the refreshed GV80 mid-size luxury crossover SUV and the company's first-ever coupe-SUV were introduced at home in South Korea first.

The debut took place at an exclusive event held at Genesis Suji in Korea, and no, I do not think they featured the ultra-famous band Genesis this time, either. Instead, they focused on the GV80, their initial SUV that entered production in 2020, as it continues to try and "blend luxury aesthetics with cutting-edge technology." So far, Genesis is happy with its performance – 170k units sold since its official debut, and now they're propping that with a subtle exterior redesign and a "comprehensive" interior revamp.

New elements for the facelift include the redesigned Two-Line Crest Grille and signature Two-Line headlamps, larger air intakes, wider skid plate, plus a Guilloché-patterned emblem. The side receives new chrome trim, while the rear gets V-shaped chrome elements as well as a reshaped lower bumper. The newly added colors are glossy and matte Storr Green.

Inside, the 27-inch-wide OLED display for the AVN (Audio, Video, Navigation) features dominates the cockpit, and Genesis also includes a touch-based HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system plus a redesigned crystal-like Shift By Wire (SBW) lever. Color choices are wider now, as the brand adds three new options: Earth Brown, Bordeaux Brown, and Glacier White.

The Genesis GV80 Coupe keeps most of the features from its regular sibling and differs ever so slightly at the front. The profile and rear, on the other hand, make it one of the sleeker offerings in the bustling mid-size coupe-SUV sector. It gets one exclusive exterior color - Bering Blue- and an interior that "captures a sporty sensibility with a design unique to a coupe." As for powertrains, at least for the home market, there are only two choices if you want the GV80.

The 2.5-liter turbo gas mill has 304 ponies and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm), whereas the 3.5-liter turbo rocks 380 horsepower and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm). On the other hand, the newly introduced Genesis GV80 Coupe is treated to a third choice, mating the 3.5-liter with a 48V electric supercharger (e-S/C), delivering up to 415 horsepower and 405 lb-ft (549 Nm). Meanwhile, advanced driving technologies like the Preview Electronic Control Suspension, second-generation Engine Mounting Control Unit (EMCU), or Auto Terrain Mode with AI are common for both.
