Joined at the hip to the Kia Stinger, the G70 has been updated for the 2024 model year in the United States market. For starters, the old 2.0-liter turbo I4 has been replaced by a punchier 2.5-liter engine.
As opposed to 252 horsepower at 6,200 revolutions per minute and 260 pound-feet (make that 353 Nm) at 1,400 revolutions per minute, this fellow makes 300 horsepower at 5,800 revolutions per minute and 311 pound-feet (422 Nm) at 1,650 revolutions per minute. In other words, the 2.5 develops more power at lower engine speeds. Although peak torque arrives that little bit later, bear in mind the 2.5 is noticeably torquier than the old 2.0 turbo.

That’s not all, though, in terms of hardware updates. For the 2024 model year, the compact executive sedan also sports Brembo front and rear brakes as standard. Hyundai’s luxury division says that we’re dealing with a high-performance system, although that may be needless boasting.

If the standard brakes of the G70 are high-performance, what about the carbon-ceramic setup of the Z07-equipped Z06? As far as the styling is concerned, the only changes over 2024 come in the form of a new Genesis emblem and two additions to the paint color palette. Said new colors are Kawah Blue (pictured above) and Vatna Gray.

Stepping inside the 2024 Genesis G70 reveals a touch climate control display and a frameless rearview mirror. Genesis further made a case for small enhancements to the multi-function switches, center console and door garnish, air vents, cup holders, and the key fob. What else is new?

Similar to the exterior, the South Korean automaker expanded the interior color themes with a couple of two-tone options. These are Obsidian Black with either Fog Gray or Vanilla Beige. To be priced in the lattermost part of 2023, the 2024 model has been treated to a USB Type-C charging port and rear side airbags as standard equipment. Is that all, though?

Not quite. Last but certainly not least, Genesis rolled out Genesis Digital Key 2 with NFC compatibility. Paired using the Apple Waller or Samsung Pass of your iOS or Android-powered Samsung phone, Genesis Digital Key 2 recognizes the driver and loads their customized preferences automatically.

Higher up the spectrum, the 3.3-liter V6 soldiers on with a couple of turbos to its name. Genesis didn’t reveal how many ponies it develops for 2024. Also worthy of note, the company didn’t reveal if the four-cylinder turbo is available with a manual. The 2.0-liter engine became exclusively automatic for the 2022 model year due to poor take-up rate for the manual, which isn’t all that surprising because customers in the market for a premium-oriented sedan aren’t interested in rowing their own gears.

The only exception to this rule is – obviously – the M3. Quite a bit sportier than the M340i and lesser versions of the 3 Series, the M3 comes with a manual as long as you’re fine with the least powerful tune of the S58 twin-turbo I6 (473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet or 550 Nm).
