A 1979 Pontiac Trans Am that has already won prestigious awards at car shows is looking for a new home, with the digital battle now entering the final hours.
eBay seller l75w72ta describes the car as a survivor, but they later claim the paint is just 85 percent original. The Trans Am looks gorgeous, but it's unclear how original it continues to be overall. On the other hand, the photos serve as living proof this Trans Am has always been meticulously maintained, so it's no surprise it turns heads at most car shows.

Now let's see what sets it apart from the rest of the Trans Ams, except for the paint.

The owner claims the car is very rare, but I couldn't find any specifics. The official production numbers include 2,485 Trans Am coupes fitted with the W72 400 engine (the same powerplant installed on this car), but I have no numbers regarding the paint. The car is finished in Atlantis Blue, which the owner says makes it rare.

Indeed, 1979 Trans Ams painted in Atlantis Blue and with a W72 engine under the hood are not that common, but without official production numbers, it's hard to tell how rare it is.

The low mileage is one of the main selling points. The odometer indicates just 25K miles (a little over 40,000 km), and unsurprisingly, they are all original. This Trans Am still exhibits many original goodies, including the engine, the hoses, the spark plug wires, the floor mats, the decals, and the exhaust system.

More importantly, the car has never served as a daily driver. All previous owners parked it in a garage, so the Trans Am avoided rain and snow, spending its entire life outside. The 25K miles are primarily the result of occasional weekend drives and the vehicle attending car shows, so if you plan to purchase it for a daily driver, that's not a good idea.

The Trans Am comes with many documents, starting with the original 1979 manual and ending with the build sheet. It's a highly documented "survivor," and the seller claims a retired Pontiac mechanic conducted the regular maintenance throughout the car's lifetime.

The battle for the car has entered the final hours, and unsurprisingly, it's getting fierce as we approach the end of the auction. The top offer is getting close to $30,000, but despite 26 bids received, the reserve is still in place.

The owner takes care of the car in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and this is where you can see it in person. In theory, you can drive the car home on its wheels, but given its low mileage, you might want to preserve it, so bringing a trailer is a much better idea.
