1984 brought good news for Pontiac from a Firebird production perspective, as the numbers were again rising after a sudden drop the previous year.
The 1983 production fell from over 116,000 Firebirds to fewer than 75,000 units, so everyone at Pontiac received the sudden increase in 1984 with much enthusiasm. The Firebird production exceeded 128,000 units, with the Trans Am itself also skyrocketing from approximately 32,000 units in 1983 to more than 55,000 cars.

The Firebird model production almost doubled this year, jumping from 32,000 vehicles to over 62,000 in 1984.

1984 also witnessed the 15th anniversary of the Trans Am, and needless to say, the GM brand wanted to celebrate this achievement with style. The company rolled out a special 15th Anniversary edition painted in white with blue stripes and decals, a multi-tone gray interior, Recaro seats, and a white leather-wrapped steering wheel.

This 1984 Trans Am that I recently came across on eBay might be painted in white, but it's not as special as an Anniversary edition.

It's still a Pontiac that deserves our attention, especially as it comes with an immaculate interior (these are eBay seller phlpshoh31wi's own words, and while the cabin looks good, I wouldn’t go as far as claiming it's a perfect-10). The car has been sitting in what looks like a barn possibly for several years, but now it’s out not only for the typical repairs but for a full restoration as well.

The one-owner Trans Am comes with all records since new, so it does check all the boxes for a highly desirable restoration candidate.

Unfortunately, the interior is the only thing that's dressed to impress, as everything else on this Trans Am requires major repairs. The metal, for example, has already been invaded by rust, and you'll find plenty of it under the car.

The engine bay doesn't bring good news either, as the 5.0-liter under the hood no longer runs. The seller says the car comes with several extra parts, but it's unclear whether the engine can still be saved. In theory, a 1984 car shouldn’t come with a locked-up engine, but you should still check this out in person because the owner did not provide any information as to how long the Trans Am has been sitting in that barn.

The selling price could eventually become a major roadblock for this Trans Am's attempt to return to the road, as the seller wants to get $6,750 for the car. Fortunately, they have also enabled the Make Offer option, and this means they might be interested in other offers should anyone really want their Trans Am. The car is currently parked in Cleveland, Ohio, if potential buyers want to see it in person.
