A recycled car parts shop was notified about the arrival of a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. All cars that end up with them are complete write-offs, with no chance whatsoever to get back on the road. And the 'Stang makes no exception.
This used to be a car that wowed the crowd. You know how people react when they see the Mustang power-sliding on public roads when they leave the Coffee and Cars type of events. They go crazy. That was exactly why Mustangs were permanently banned from such car reunions, together with the Chevrolet Camaros, Dodge Chargers, and Challengers back in March.

That was because several such muscle cars end up in an some electricity pole, guardrail or, worst case scenario, slam into a crowd. All we can do, however, is hope that this wasn't the case and no passengers or spectators were injured. There is no information about what this Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 hit or how it caught fire.

What we do know is that it needs a forklift to move it around. The front end, where the V8 used to be, is completely melted. It looks like the fire started on the driver's side of the front end because that is where the worst damage is.

A hint that this car might have hit something is the duct tape that is holding together the driver’s side door and rear fender. However, the front wheel on that side, despite the damage caused by the fire on the hood, fender, and engine compartment, held up really well.

The muscle car used to ride on the optional set of 18-inch Ebony Black-Painted Aluminum wheels. All four of them still seem intact. So they are going to end up on eBay for a very good price.

The front grille is a mess, the hood melted in the fire, while the right front fender was eaten up by the blaze. The driver's side mirror and window, together with the windshield, are long gone, while the roof also looks grilled.

But everything else seems just perfect for the used car parts market, starting with the Shelby logo up front. The fenders and door on the passenger's side, as well as the rear bumper, trunk lid, and taillights, will all be sold. It remains to be seen what internals are there to save. The engine hasn't got a chance.

Before this fire, that 5.0-liter V8 was a 760-horsepower (771-metric horsepower) affair, with 625 pound-feet (847 Newton meters) of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch sends them straight to the rear axle.

It is a setup that might turn out to be dangerous to many drivers and those around them. Much horsepower and rear-wheel drive are a hazardous mix when the driver thinks he can tame the pony car.
