It seems like it is a Mustang thing because every time it happens, it just has to be a Mustang involved. This time, it happened at the drag strip, with a Blue Oval muscle car and a Chevrolet Corvette. The Mustang is now probably on its way to the scrapyard.
The scenario is always simple. The driver pushes that throttle pedal way too hard, the car loses traction, the tail begins to dance on the tarmac, and the car ends up in some light pole, side barrier, or, even worse, crowd.

This time, at least, the driver took it to the track, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. And, luckily, there was no crowd involved and the racing driver wannabe walked away unharmed. But we can’t say the same about the ego of the driver and about the ‘Stang.

But how did he get to slam into that concrete barrier? The cars started off, and the C7 Corvette managed to put a gap between it and the Mustang, which already seemed to lose grip. It must have been the cold tires or the wet tarmac or the inexperienced driver or all three of them.

The car went tail wagging, steered to the right, its wheels span too much. The driver tried to correct the position of the vehicle on the track, but all he did was slam into the barrier on the left side. People in the stands screamed and showed concern for the one behind the wheel.

It took the driver more than 20 seconds to realize what happened and step out of the car. People cheered when they saw he was allright. By the time he came out, the ambulance arrived at the crash scene. The doctor showed up and seemingly insisted to check on him.

Smoke was coming out from underneath the hood, so a track marshal with a fire extinguisher lifted it, attempting to prevent damage that would have been even worse than what the car had already sustained. Both the front and rear end were a mess with little chance to look as good as new ever again.

People in the comments point out that it is a pity to see the only American muscle car that is making the V8 survive has a reputation of crashing every chance it gets.

Luckily, this time, the crash happened on the track and everyone walked away unharmed. Earlier this year, we reported about a brand-new 2024 Ford Mustang S650 crashing at the circuit while racing a Cadillac CTS-V. The car sustained terrible damage on all sides, but that time, too, the driver was unharmed.

A month later, we found the muscle car for sale on Copart. One more month later, it is still there, with the current bid reaching $15,800. Such a pity for a V8-powered GT with such a nice spec. Sometimes, we get to think: what took the Coffee & Cars organizers so long before they banned Mustangs, Camaros, and Chargers?
