All Ford Mustangs, Dodge Chargers and Chevrolet Camaros are banned from any Coffee and Cars Events. It is a temporary restriction caused by the latest events involving such cars and it might be lifted once the reckless drivers are found by the authorities.
The Ford Mustang comes with quite a reputation. It is, indeed, the best-selling muscle car of all times. But it is also one of the most tempting cars for burnouts, power slides, and all kinds of hazardous demonstrations on public roads, that sometimes end up with crashes or put the other traffic participants in danger.

Some of the drivers of Mustangs don’t miss any opportunity to show off. That is the reason we have reported so many crashes involving the model that we could just deliver a pattern piece every time it happens, only changing the location and the date on the article.

That is what prompted the organizers of Coffee and Cars events to restrict the drivers of Ford Mustangs, but also those of Dodge Chargers and Chevrolet Camaros for a while. It is their manner of attempting to reduce such behavior and ask everyone to stop encouraging it. Furthermore, the organizers always post signs which announce that burnouts and excessive revving are strictly forbidden.

The organizers announce that, if such behavior continues, they will resort to invitational-only events. Furthermore, actions of the kind, which are illegal and hazardous might make authorities shut down the events. It would not be the first time that reckless driving has shut down such car meetings.

The decision sparked heated controversy among the owners of the domestic models which were banned. They blame prejudice, bias, and discrimination and point out that not all Mustang, Dodge, and Camaro drivers are reckless and misbehave.

Organizers are on a mission to find those who did the revving and burnouts following the latest event of the kind in Texas, on November 4, which featured British cars and muscle cars, and hold them responsible for their actions with the help of police. If authorities find them, there is a chance that all Mustangs, Chargers, and Camaros will be allowed back in for the next event.

Police might supervise such meetings to prevent drivers from doing stunts on public roads.

Coffee and Cars events have been held in the Houston, Texas area since 2004. They have been casual assemblies of car aficionados for the past 19 years. The drivers meet up to show their enthusiasm and appreciation for exceptional machines.

The events are open to everyone, with no membership requirements or fees. Organizers tag it as “the most prominent gathering of its kind” and say that there are around 6,000 - 7,000 attendees on a monthly basis. Back in 204, the first such event took place with just 12 cars.
