Ford is auctioning off the Mustang Dark Horse VIN 001. It is powered by the Coyote V8 and is equipped with a six-speed manual for that raw feeling, 500 horsepower, and that head-turning Blue Ember Metallic paint.
The Ford Mustang Dark Horse is the first new performance nameplate in 21 years since the arrival of the Bullit. The model is powered by the fourth generation of the 5.0-liter V8 Coyote engine, which features a dual air-intake and throttle-body design.

The V8 generates 500 horsepower (507 metric horsepower) and 418 lb-ft (566 Nm) of torque, all steered to the rear via a six-speed TREMEC manual transmission. The ten-speed auto box is optional, and it is not the case on this Mustang Dark Horse.

The 'Stang features a transmission oil cooler, engine oil cooler, rear axle cooler, and improved engine cooling. The Dark Horse rolls off the production line with a retuned chassis and heavy-duty front springs. Brembo six-piston brakes with 14-inch rotors on the front axle provide the stopping power.

A MagneRide suspension and a Torsen rear slip differential are also on the menu. The Mustang Dark Horse VIN 001 rides on 19-inch wheels with Pirelli Trofeo RS tires, 19 x 10.5 at the front and 19 x 11 at the rear.

For the Dark Horse, Ford came up with one of the sportiest interiors ever fitted on a production car, centered around the driver. There is a steering wheel with a flat bottom section in front of the 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster with customizable screens. The 13.2-inch touchscreen controls most of the car's functions.

VN 001 comes with Recaro seats wrapped in Deep Indigo leather with contrasting blue accents, a hood painted in black and blue, plus accent stripes. The model is equipped with the Handling and Appearance packages.

The former lowers the car, bringing it one inch closer to the ground as it includes a retuned suspension, magnetic dampers, and 19-inch wheels. It also includes a larger front splitter and a rear spoiler with a Gurney flap for extra downforce. Ford claims the package secures a harsher ride compared to the stock Mustang.

Meanwhile, the Appearance pack brings a black-painted roof, unique brake calipers in Notorious Blue with the Grabber Blue logo, a distinctive hood graphic. The Blue Ember Metallic exterior paint is also exclusively offered with this package.

The sports car goes under the hammer at a Barrett-Jackson event set to take place on January 27. All the proceeds will go to charity JDRF, the leading global non-profit organization funding type 1 diabetes research. Ford and Barrett Jackson offer no estimation, but it should go toward half a million dollars or more. The first 2024 Mustang GT sold for $590,000 at a Scottsdale auction event in 2023.
